Expanding Air Connectivity Between Greece and Japan
During an official visit to Tokyo for Tourism Expo Japan 2026, the Greek Tourism Minister held discussions with Japan Airlines (JAL) Vice President regarding the prospect of launching direct flights between the two countries. Enhancing air links remains a key priority on the bilateral tourism agenda.
During the meetings, the Greek delegation presented the country's recent tourism figures, noting that Greece welcomed over 43 million visitors in 2025 including cruise passengers, while maintaining steady momentum throughout 2026 despite regional challenges in the Middle East.
Broadening Tourism and Cultural Cooperation
In addition to aviation talks, the Greek officials met with key figures including the head of the Greece-Japan Parliamentary Friendship Group, the Japan Tourism Commissioner, and representatives from business organizations such as JATA and Keidanren.
